For those with special needs, it can be a tough place out there. That’s why we’re so proud to be able to offer our community a more exciting and engaging way to grow, one that starts with a connection with another living being. By working with a horse, little ones have the opportunity to spend a little time outdoors, while also working to expand their capabilities; that can be a real chance for those with physical, emotional, or cognitive struggles.
Our team at Runnin’ WJ Ranch understands the importance of finding a way forward that keeps them entertained. If they have started to tune out during their traditional therapy sessions, talk to our team about whether therapeutic riding would work for your child. This approach uses the fun and exciting activity of horseback riding as a way to increase core strength and balance, improve range of motion, and give them an experience they can remember, all while having a little fun with it all.

Happy To Be A Place For Our Community
Here in Texarkana, we’re pretty proud of our people. We come together for each other when we need to, to make sure that our people have the support that they need. Our community is a big part of why people love our city so much, and it is our honor to be able to give back.
Starting in 2001, we began Runnin’ WJ Ranch as a way to help special needs children in Texarkana, and in the last 24 years, we have had the opportunity to serve so many young ones through the magic of horseback riding. Simply by having a little fun, they can expand their possibilities, and we’re here to guide them to more. All in a safe, controlled environment.
Riding Therapy Offers Unique Advantages For Special Needs Children
For children with additional needs, therapeutic riding offers some distinct advantages. These benefits can help those with physical limitations, cognitive impairment, and even emotional distance, so talk to our team about your little one and we can talk further. It’s all about finding the right fit.
With our PATH International-accredited riding instructors, your child can work to increase their range of motion core strength, and more. That can be a real help for children in wheelchairs or who use walking assistance. And just learning the horse’s name is a real emotional step forward.
